Admission to the MSNA is offered in the fall, spring and summer terms. Transcripts from all previous institutions, three letters of recommendation, a current Texas Nursing License, personal statement or essay, and a resume or CV are required for the degree. Additional requirements once the student has been admitted to include a criminal background check, a urine drug screen, liability coverage, and immunizations as defined by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Veterans and current members of the military, their families and caregivers receive services and benefits through the Texas Veterans Portal.

Masters in Nursing Administration

The Masters in Nursing Administration at Fort Hays State University is geared towards currently working nurses who are ready to further their careers as administrators, managers, or executives in nursing. The MNA is a total of 36 credits and combines foundational nursing courses with hands-on learning and practice, as well as classes specific to the role of nursing administrators. Examples of classes include Complexity in Health Care Organization, Advanced Pathophysiology, Pharmacology and Assessment for Nurse Educators and Administrators, and the Policy/Politics/Organization and cost of Health care. Graduate students will engage in 90 hours of nursing administration apprenticeship at an approved preceptor.

Applications for admission requires a current nursing license, two letters of recommendation, a statement of personal and professional goals, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, and a minimum 3.0 GPA in undergraduate work. The faculty is made up of 25 faculty who specialize in a broad spectrum of nursing consultation areas. Fort Hays online nursing students have access to the same resources as on-campus students, including the Fort Hays Association of Nursing Students.
