Cornell University

College of Human Ecology

Cornell University is the largest private university in Ithaca and one of the largest schools in the state with an enrollment of more than 23,000 students. Founded in 1865, it is also an Ivy League school with a very selective admissions policy. The university only accepts around 10 percent of the new students who apply for one of its undergrad programs. Cornell also offers incoming students a range of financial aid options and will work hard to ensure that students pay as little out of pocket as possible. U.S. News & World Report and other organizations rank Cornell within the top 20 of all colleges in the world.

Health Administration Degrees

Three of the top accredited healthcare degree programs in Ithaca are available from Cornell University. It offers the Sloan Master of Healthcare Administration and a dual MBA/MHA program for graduate students. Undergrads can enroll in an accelerated program that lets them take four years of courses to earn a bachelor’s degree. They will take MHA courses in their senior year. This allows them to take only one other year of classes to complete an MHA degree. Cornell has a high placement rate and sees more than 90 percent of its healthcare administration graduates find work in the field within one year of graduating. More than 40 percent of those students work in hospitals and similar facilities. Students take a range of management courses in the program. Some of the core classes that MHA majors take include Microeconomics for Management and Policy, Population Health for Managers and Legal Aspects of Health Care.
