The University of Utah’s School of Medicine has 22 departments that provide in clinical and basic science education for students interested in the wide-ranging field of medicine. The school’s Department of Family and Preventive Medicine is one of the largest divisions within the university.
The Department of Family and Preventive Medicine works in conjunction with the Division of Public Health and the David Eccles School of Business to provide the Master of Health Care Administration/Master of Public Health Joint Degree (MHA/MPH). The program allows students to obtain two master’s degrees concurrently, one in Health Care Administration and the Mother in Public Health, through approximately 63 hours of academic study. Students may pursue this joint degree either full- or part-time. The joint degree is targeted toward those students who want advanced training in health policy analysis, program evaluation and public health administration. The outcome allows graduates to work in one or all three of these sectors. Students will also learn about the political and institutional processes that create public health policy.
