California State University-East Bay, commonly called Cal State East Bay or CSU East Bay, is a public institution of higher learning residing in Hayward, California. It welcomes and supports a diverse academic community and provides rich and culturally relevant educational experiences that prepare students to apply what they learn in their programs to real-world situations. California State University-East Bay was founded in 1957 as the State College for Alameda County. The first year officially began in 1959 with 239 students and 25 faculty. The college moved locations in 1963. The college became Alameda County State College in 1960 and it experienced major expansion throughout the 1960s and 1970s. The college became California State College at Hayward in 1963. In 1972, the institution became California State University, Hayward. The first student housing was established in 1987. It opened a satellite campus in 1992. The college officially became California State University East bay in 2005 to reflect its new objectives. Today, the university is known for its diversity and it is home to nearly 16,000 students.

Online Master of Science in Health Care Administration

California State University offers an online Master of Science in Health Care Administration that enables students to acquire the knowledge and abilities to become effective administrators in transforming the health care industry. Students explore new models of delivering health care and learn how to effectively meet the challenges in today's dynamic health care field and employ creative solutions to those issues. The program is intended for working health care professionals, and it is offered in a flexible online learning platform. The learning experience is personal and student-centered, and instructors are experts in the health care filed and strive to provide students with the necessary support for success. The program is offered entirely online and every course is 15 weeks long and contain 15 instructional modules. Every module includes an overview, student learning objectives, assignments, instructional materials, hyperlinks, discussion board, student participation requirements, and assessments. All course activities provide students with knowledge that is immediately useful in the actual health care field. Students are typically able to complete the program in four semesters, taking two courses per semester. The program requires the completion of 34 units, including seven four-unit courses and one six-unit course. The required courses include evolution of the U.S. health care system, health care technology and informatics, health care quality improvement, health care financial management, health care program development, health care legal, diversity and ethical issues, health care management, leadership and strategic planning, and a capstone project. The online MS in Health Care Administration aligns with the sought after competencies developed by the Healthcare Leadership Alliance. Students will show competency in six areas: knowledge and critical thinking, communication, relationship management, leadership, professionalism, and business acumen.

Federal Work Study

The Federal Work-Study is a federally financed program that is a part of the financial aid package for students who demonstrate financial need. Students are able to work on a part-time basis to earn money to pay for college related expenses. Jobs are available both on and off campus and students typically work less than 20 hours a week. The pay is at least minimum wage, but varies by employer, job tasks and student qualifications.
